Top 10 Things to Do in Panglao, Bohol (2026 Guide)

Panglao Island sits at the southwestern tip of Bohol, connected to the mainland by two bridges. It has evolved from a sleepy diving destination into one of the Philippines' most visited islands — yet it still feels remarkably unhurried once you venture past the beachfront strip.

Whether you're visiting for a long weekend or a full week, here are the ten experiences that define Panglao in 2026.

1. Dive or Snorkel at Balicasag Island

Balicasag is a marine sanctuary 30 minutes by boat from Panglao. The coral walls start at 5 meters and drop to 40+, making it ideal for both snorkelers and certified divers. Sea turtles, jackfish, and barracuda are common. Aman Sinaya can arrange day trips with trusted local operators.

2. Walk Alona Beach at Sunset

Alona Beach remains Panglao's most popular stretch of white sand. The western end is quieter and better for photos. Grab a coconut drink from one of the stand-alone vendors and watch the bancas return for the day. Timing tip: arrive around 4:30 PM to avoid the midday heat.

3. Visit the Chocolate Hills

These 1,200+ cone-shaped limestone hills on mainland Bohol turn chocolate-brown during dry season. The main viewing deck in Carmen gives panoramic views. It's a 1.5-hour drive from Panglao — pair it with a countryside tour.

4. Try Local Boholano Cuisine

Don't leave without trying kalamay (sticky rice cake), peanut kisses, and fresh seafood grilled at a local carinderia. With a full kitchen in your villa, you can also shop the local markets and cook your own catch.

5. Take a Firefly River Cruise

The Abatan River firefly cruise is one of Bohol's hidden gems. Small paddle boats glide silently through mangroves while thousands of fireflies light up the trees like natural Christmas lights. Best experienced between 6:30–8 PM.

6. Swim at Danao Beach (Right by Aman Sinaya)

If Alona Beach feels too crowded, head to the quieter coves around Danao — the barangay where Aman Sinaya Villas sits. The calmer waters and lack of vendors make mornings here especially relaxing.

7. Watch Dolphins at Dawn

Early morning dolphin-watching trips leave Panglao around 5:30 AM and head toward Pamilacan Island. Spinner dolphins are the most common, and sightings are frequent from February through May. Tours cost roughly ₱800–1,200 per person.

8. Explore Hinagdanan Cave

A limestone cave with an underground lagoon and natural skylight. It's small — 15 minutes is enough — but the blue-green water and stalactite formations are photogenic. Located in Dauis, about 15 minutes from Panglao proper.

9. Island-Hop to Virgin Island

Virgin Island is a sandbar that appears at low tide, creating a shallow wading area that looks impossibly photogenic. Most Balicasag tours include a Virgin Island stop. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a waterproof bag.

10. Do Nothing by Your Own Pool

Sometimes the best thing to do on a tropical island is absolutely nothing. Each Aman Sinaya villa has its own private pool, sunken lounge, and gazebo — swim, read, cook, repeat. You don't need to fill every hour with an excursion.

Where to Stay in Panglao

Aman Sinaya Villas is a collection of private three-bedroom pool villas in Daorong, Danao, Panglao. Each villa sleeps up to nine with its own pool, gazebo, and full kitchen — a private base for exploring the island without sharing a resort pool with anyone.
